This is the good stuff. Cocoa itself doesn't grow in Britain, so its place as a local food is debatable, but these are specialist producers who are often madly passionate about what they do. They are concerned with Fairtrade and organic standards, and the love and independent spirit that goes into their product means they have a place in our hearts, and our shopping. Large confectionary producers are often unscrupulous farmers, factory owners and marketing agencies. Their products are often simply sweet and inferior. The small chocolatiers and confectioners in our guide can show you sweet things at their very best.
