March's Seasonal Foods
These tables are concise and only show what is in the peak season for each month. Each type of food will usually be available for around a month after it goes out of season.

Beef, poultry and pork aren't seasonal in the same way as the other meats featured in these tables and so can be eaten all year round.

If you don't know what a food is, or the best recommended way to cook it, click on the link and it'll tell you.

Parsnips are a much neglected British vegetable. We would even go so far as to say a hidden gem. When roasted or chipped, their soft, sweet interior contrasts beautifully with the chewy, crisp exterior. Resist the urge to peel them as the vitamins are just below the surface. Give them a good scrub instead. Parsnips are extremely hardy and can stay in the ground until needed, making them a marvelous winter food. Check out our recipe for Roast Parsnip Puree.
